Montreal, August 11, 2022 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0World Press Photo Montreal<\/strong> exhibition\u00a0team is proud to announce that, as part of its\u00a015th\u00a0edition<\/strong>, which will take place\u00a0from August 31 to October 2 at Bonsecours Market<\/strong>, the 15 World Press Photo of the Year prizewinners from the past 15 years will be presented to the public, in addition to the 2022 contest’s award winners.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, artist Caroline Monnet<\/strong> will serve as the spokesperson for this 15th\u00a0edition, during which she will also present the\u00a0world premiere of her exhibition\u00a0Ikwewak\u00a0(Women)<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Among the other exhibitions,\u00a0photographer\u00a0Justine Latour<\/strong>\u00a0will present her exhibition\u00a0Claire 107 years old<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0for the very first time. This exhibition visually chronicles the remarkable journey of\u00a0Claire Sigouin<\/strong>, still self-sufficient at 107 years old, residing in the house where she has lived since 1932, in Bois-des-Filion.<\/p>\n

Seeing Beyond the Horizon. Together<\/em>:\u00a0Therapeutic adventures for young people with cancer<\/strong>
\nSince 1996, the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation has given young people with cancer the opportunity to leave the hospital and immerse themselves in nature. Accompanied by a medical team and therapeutic adventure facilitators, they take up the challenge of a four-to-twelve-day expedition in a remote environment. Photography is of vital importance to the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation. A volunteer blogger\/photographer joins each expedition. The photos remind young people that their cancer experience has also had happy moments, which helps sustain the therapeutic benefits of the program.<\/p>\n

Les D\u00e9crypteurs<\/em>: the underbelly of disinformation<\/strong>
\nHow can one distinguish between the real and the fake when surfing the Internet? What are the different varieties of fake news? Can the eye deceive the viewer when presented with a doctored photograph or is it easy to spot whether it has been manipulated? Visitors can expect answers to these questions as part of the\u00a0Les D\u00e9crypteurs\u00a0exhibition by the Radio-Canada team, spotlighting the work of Alexis De Lancer,\u00a0Marie-Pier Elie,\u00a0Jeff Yates\u00a0and\u00a0Nicholas De Rosa.<\/p>\n

Des images qui marquent (Images that leave their mark)<\/strong><\/em>
\nTo mark the anniversary of the World Press Photo Montreal exhibition, 12 of\u00a0La Presse’s current photographers will each present an image that has left an impression on them over the course of their career. These poignant snapshots were brought to life by photographers Hugo-S\u00e9bastien Aubert, David Boily, Marco Campanozzi, Martin Chamberland, Olivier Jean, Sarah Mongeau-Birkett, Edouard Plante-Fr\u00e9chette, Alain Roberge, Fran\u00e7ois Roy, Patrick Sanfa\u00e7on, Robert Skinner and Martin Tremblay.<\/p>\n

About the World Press Photo Montreal exhibition\u00a0<\/strong>
\nOften dubbed the Oscars of photojournalism, the World Press Photo features the prizewinning photographs selected by a jury from a vast selection of nearly 65,000 submissions by 4,066 photojournalists hailing from 130 countries. Presented since 2005, the Montreal exhibition is one of the world\u2019s most highly attended editions. The prizewinning photographs are divided into four categories: Singles, Stories, Long-Term Projects, and Open Format.
