Jury members saw <\/span>3 distinct topics<\/b> emerge that <\/span>define this 2025 edition: conflict, migration and climate change<\/b>. Stories of resilience, family and community. The global jury was chaired by Lucy Conticello, Director of Photography at M, le magazine du Monde, and <\/span>Quebec documentary photographer Charles-Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rick Ouellet was a member of the jury for the North and Central America region, from which the 2 finalists are coming from<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

This year, the 42 winning photographers are from30 countries. The 2 finalists, taken by photographers Musuk Nolte (Peru\/Mexico) for Panos Pictures and the Bertha Foundation and John Moore (USA) for Getty Images, respectively show a young man bringing food to his mother who lives in the village of Manacapuru. The village was once accessible by boat, but because of the drought, he must walk two kilometers along a dry riverbed in the Amazon, while Chinese migrants warm themselves during a cold rain after crossing the US-Mexico border. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
